I've done it! On Sunday 11th March, in (relatively) balmy conditions, I ran my first-ever 5k around Regents Park. Usain Bolt has nothing to fear from my very modest time of approximately 39:15 (time tbc) but I'm proud and relieved to say I completed the circuit without stopping or walking at any point.

A huge and heartfelt thanks to everyone who's donated. The sponsorship kept me motivated on the days when training was hard, and more importantly, on the day itself. And if you haven't donated already, it's not too late! This page will be open for donations until 11 June 2012.

Last November, I downloaded a Couch to 5K app. To my own surprise, I'm still running. Not like the wind; more like a gentle breeze. But running.

I set myself a New Year resolution to run a sponsored 5k this year. On March 11th I'll be running for the British Heart Foundation. Heart and circulatory diseases cause more than one in three of all deaths in the UK. The BHF aims through care, research and campaigns to create a world where people no longer die prematurely from heart disease.

Any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated and will help me push on to my first ever finish line. What's more, my employers will match every pound, so your donation will be doubled. Talk about value for money!
