We’ve come a long way since the first recorded HIV/AIDS case. Nowadays, in the UK, we have access to effective HIV treatment, a normal life expectancy and most of us have an undetectable viral load, which means we cannot pass the virus on. Yet, the stigma surrounding our diagnoses is still a heavy burden for many of us, it can create incredible loneliness and isolation, affect our health, and form obstacles to access services, and to live well with HIV.
