We provide fun-filled activity holidays to change the lives of disabled children

Story

As many of you will know we had to cancel all of our Newman Trust Holidays this year for obvious reasons. A huge shame as the 150 kids we take and their families get such a huge amount out of it … it’s left a big hole in their hearts and in ours.

So we thought the least we could do was try to raise a little money so that 2021 and beyond can be even bigger and even better …

And what better way than a little walk ….

So I thought … why not do the Pennine Way – with my dad (he’s only 82) … I mean ... how hard can it be ….

Well actually it’s 431km (268 miles) … ouch … but anyway – It’s booked … we start on the Saturday 29th August and should be done by Saturday 19th Sept … legs, weather and Covid permitting!!!!

Please support us – however big or small – it all adds up 😊

It goes towards a wonderful thing – the Newman Holiday Trust.

PS – what is the NHT? Well each year the Trust organise 7 week long residential holidays that each take around 22 wonderful kids with special needs away for a week filled with fun and laughter. Because of the care for and needs of the kids we also have to take around 40 helpers with us on each holiday so it’s a big undertaking but the respite it provides for the families and the experience the kids get makes it very very special.

Established in 1981, the Newman Holiday Trust began by running a one week summer holiday for children with special needs. The Trust now provides holidays for about 130 children with special needs aged four to sixteen each year, in various locations around the UK. Due to the high level of skilled care they require or financial circumstances, the children selected for these breaks would not otherwise receive a holiday. The holidays provide a range of fun activities in a safe and supportive environment and use a care ration of one helper to one child at all times. The Trust is an entirely voluntary organization and owes its success to over 200 people who dedicate their free time to helping these children. This voluntary structure ensures that every penny raised goes directly towards a child's holiday.
