Story

** We are close to reaching the target and thank you so much for everyone who has supported this. Any additional donations will be ringfenced for future trips!

On April 3rd 2023 I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise £770 to take 41 young people from Queen's Crescent, Camden's first most deprived neighborhood, to two cultural trips in inner city London during the April school holidays:

Trip one

A guided open top bus tour through Westminster and the City and a hot meal.

Trip Two

Uber Boat from Westminster to the IFS Cloud Cable Cars to experience London 90 metres above the Thames and a hot meal.

A donation of £17 will cover the cost for one young person. These fun, educational experiences will provide young people a chance to learn outside of the classroom and develop valuable personal and social skills.

Further details are below, but I'm grateful to the individuals who sponsor this experience with a one-off gift, to Jack Petchey Foundation for funding part of the trip and to the City of London Corporation for offering me a free ticket to the marathon.

 Background Information

The report carried out by Partnership for Young London and the Museum of London, “We are the Youth of Today – Life in London for Generation Z”, highlighted that more than 30% of young people from their survey said they rarely visit cultural spaces.

In a recent consultation with the young people who I work with at Queen's Crescent Community Association, most rarely visit inner city London and some said they feel disconnected from cultural and heritage spaces.

Lastly, a huuuuge thank you from me if you’re able to afford a donation to this cause. It's gonna bring a lot of joy to our young people.
