Story

The Salvation Army has been worshipping and working in Wood Green for 140 years. With our mission of Love God, Love Others at the heart of all we do, we seek to support our community by providing care where it is most needed.

Over the years, this care has taken many different forms. Today, in response to current needs, we are focusing not only on helping those most in need within our community, but also on providing support that cannot be found elsewhere in the area.

To this end, we are in the process of setting up a Community Wardrobe, which from early 2026 will provide clothing and bedding for those who cannot afford them, alongside toiletries and referrals to food banks. In time, we also plan to open our café space, offering refreshments and a listening ear to anyone who needs it. We hope, too, to introduce The Salvation Army’s Employment Plus advice service, offering practical support with finding work, benefit enquiries, and help with debt and budgeting. It’s all go!

Funds raised will go towards purchasing toiletries, new items of underwear, and clothing as needed. Once the café is up and running, donations will also help us provide free food and drink for all who come through our doors.

If you would prefer to donate in person, please email us at wood.green@salvationarmy.org.uk for details.

On behalf of those who most need your support: please give what you can. Whatever you are able to contribute, we thank you sincerely.
