Approximately 80% of what a child learns is processed through the visual system. Tragically, millions of children around the world are vision impaired simply because they can’t access an eye examination and appropriate glasses. Their learning and social development suffers, and, ultimately, their prospects in life…and the impact on development in their communities, countries, and the global economy is vast – US$202 billion annually in lost productivity from vision impairment due to distance refractive error alone. Our Children's Vision, a campaign to upscale, accelerate and expand access to eye health services to more children is answering this challenge.
