Story
We are raising money for our charity, TTP Education & Research, on a London Brigdathon. This is a leisurely walk across 6 London bridges. Anyone can be involved and it is a great day out for family and friends.
TTP is a devastating acute life threatening disorder, which affects any age group, but usually young adults. Patients can be very sick, requiring intensive care and treatment. Despite the outlook for patients being very good with modern treatment, there are still many important questions for medical researchers to answer in order to improve how this condition is treated in the future. The charity aims to support vital research into this rare disease and provide support and education
for patients and their families, as well as the medical community.
The charity has already made a huge contribution to TTP over previous years. Following our first Bridgathon, with your help we managed to raise enough money to buy a vital piece of equipment for research to determine if there is a genetic predisposition to develop TTP (a nano drop machine which measures the quantity of DNA in samples). In the following years we raised enough funds to host the yearly TTP Patient Day as well as preparing for this year's in October. This is a very popular event where patients, their families, and our medical team meet to discuss TTP, including new developments in treatment and research. It is a great opportunity for patients and families to learn more about TTP and have their questions answered, but also to gain support through meeting others with the condition.
Through your contribution to TTP Education & Research we were able to buy another vital equipment, continued our support for TTP Network and also managed the funding of researchers. Your participation in Bridgathon will help us continue to be at the forefront of supporting our charity thus making a vital difference for everyone affected by TTP.
We look forward to seeing you on the day.
