Story

Hi - thanks for coming to my JustGiving page !

'200 miles, 200 times non-stop through the darkness of the UK'S longest foot tunnel will be a mindbending test of extreme endurance and sensory deprivation'.......Mark Cockbain, Race Director

This is an awesome Ultra and I really hope worthy of your sponsorship to raise vital funds so the British Red Cross can help people in desperate need. I would be really really grateful if you sponsored me.

I've done well to get on this one as it's limited to just 30 runners. First run in 2018 -only 2 finished.

> 200 miles in 55 hours - strict time limit

> Pitch black between 11pm and 5am. Low level lighting in effect at other times.

> Approx 100 out & backs through the tunnel. Single file.

> No headphones. No support crews or outside support. No shelter/rest area. No toilets.

The British Red Cross can save and change the lives of people in the UK and overseas. People whose lives have been devastated or made vulnerable by crises and disasters.

These include: house fires, floods, terror attacks, isolation and loneliness, accident or illness, earthquakes, tsunamis, famine, disease and war.

For example, see: the Red Cross response to the tragedies in the UK of 2017; the recent cyclone that destroys towns and villages in the Bahamas, or Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe; the utterly
devastating earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal; famine in East Africa; the Ebola epidemic; and the horrifying, on-going wars in Syria and Yemen.

It's a genuinely a fantastic cause. I've been volunteering for our local 'befriending service' to help isolated, house-bound elderly people who suffer from dementia to get out and back involved in their local community; and to help street homeless people when the temperature drops in winter. The difference the Red Cross makes to the lives of vulnerable people is astonishing and humbling.

So, please sponsor me :-)
