Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade is the declared facility to HM Coastguard in North Tyneside. Our team specialises in Rope, Water & Coastal Search and Rescue. Operating from our Watch House in Tynemouth, we need at least £35,000 each year to maintain our volunteer rescue team & free-to-visit museum.

Story

The challenge:

Run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.

Will Hogg, Sandy Kerr, Andrew Kane and Sam Nicholson will be completing the David Goggins 4X4X48 running challenge.

We will start the challenge on Friday 5th March 2021 at 4pm.  We will then run 4 miles every 4 hours finishing with a final run at 4pm on the 7th March 2021 (48 hours).

Will, Sandy and Sam will be running various routes around Tynemouth/sea front and Andrew will be running routes around Blyth.

For example our running schedule throughout the 48 hour period would be:

Friday: 4pm - 8pm - Saturday: 12am - 4am - 8am - 12pm - 4pm - 8pm - Sunday: 12am - 4am - 8am - 12pm.

TVLB, based from our Watch House Museum in Tynemouth, operate a coastal rescue team covering the North Tyneside area, as well at the tidal reaches of the River Tyne. We rely entirely on voluntary donations to ensure our team of volunteers have access to high quality equipment and training – allowing them to provide a fast and efficient response to a wide range of incidents. Our free-to-visit museum chronicles the areas rich history of maritime rescue, and acts as our basis for our outreach work focused on water and sea safety awareness.
