The 2.6 Challenge · 26 April 2020 ·
We are Twice the Health, and to support the 2.6 challenge we're taking on a 26-hour duathlon. The best bit? We've roped in our boyfriends too.
As a house, we'll be completing 26 (+20 minutes) of continuous exercise across bike and run, finishing with 20 burpees as a team.
The Details
26 hours (+20 mins) of exercise must be completed, ensuring there is always one person exercising at a time.
During the changeovers (bike specifically), the person jumping on the bike will run on the spot/walk up and down the stairs/jump on the other bike during the switch over.
The two exercise options are running or cycling, with the option of a jog on the spot or a stair climb to fill the changeover gap.
We will be sticking to government guidelines, only taking an hour of outside exercise a day. The first will be done solo, the second in company.
Why?
We’re doing this to support the twopointsix challenge, an initiative being run by the London Marathon to support charities who have lost out in fundraising during COVID-19.
How can you get involved?
There are a few options here, but remember however you choose to get involved, we’re all heroes.
Take on a twopointsix challenge - This can be anything from flipping 26 pancakes, to taking on a 2.6 mile jog. The world is your oyster, all we ask is that you share it to help support this incredible initiative. We’d love if you joined our 20 burpees at the end too!
Select a session - Pick one or two of the hours (between 10am - 12pm) and join in with one of us during our sessions. This could be virtually via a run, or online through Zwift whilst we’re on the Turbo. Simply jump on when we’re on, and tag us as well as hashtagging #twicethehealthathalon.
Pick a player - This is where it gets really fun. You can pick a player, and join in their sessions throughout the day/night. This means, whenever they are moving you are.
Last year, food banks in our network provided more than 1.6 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis. More than half a million of these went to children. It’s not right that people can’t afford the basics. With your help, we can help end the need for food banks. As a nation, we expect no one should be left hungry or destitute. Illness, disability, family breakdown or the loss of a job can happen to any of us. With your help #ThisCanChange
