Twickenham to Brighton walk · 26 June 2021

MQ Mental Health Research is a charity formed to support research into mental illness. By funding research, we will be able to understand mental illness, improve current treatments, identify new ones and transform the lives of those affected: over 15 million in the UK. Better is possible.

Story

I'm Tom, 32 from Twickenham

I want to raise money for awareness for mental health research.

Talk to other people with problems or worries for Mental health awareness

I believe with the right support of encouraging awareness of mental health and putting it out there more to show it shouldnt be embarrassing for someone to speak of there feelings. There is more people than you think that suffer but will stay in silence and show a big smile.

I'm going to ride from Twickenham train station to Brighton beachfront to raise awareness for mental health, also in memory of a friend who was loved by many and far too young.

I'm going to do this on Saturday 19th June 2021 leaving Twickenham train station for 7.30am and estimating to arrive at Brighton pier for 3.30pm. I will be riding through Teddington,  Hampton Court, Weybridge, Woking, Guildford, Horsham, West Grinstead, Henfield and then finally Brighton pier.

I will be using the strava app to show my route and time on the day of the fundraise and will also be taking pictures at certain points of the ride so people can track the progress of the fundraise.

Anyone who would like to join me on this fundraising event on Saturday June 19th is more than welcome.

All donations go directly to Just Giving and MQ mental health research charity

Thanks to anyone who donates to this fundraise and there support.

More information on the charity I'm fundraising for is below

Many thanks

We’re MQ, the mental health research charity. We transform lives through research, helping to create a future where mental illnesses are understood, effectively treated and one day prevented.  Right now, one in four people in the UK are living with a mental health condition. Our scientists investigate a huge range of issues: depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and more. We’re bringing together everything from cutting-edge neuroscience to social studies to find the answers we need. Better is possible.
