Two wheels for good · 22 March 2016

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

WHAT'S THE PLAN? Simple! Cycle the UK, end-to-end! 1,000 miles – John O'Groats to Lands End. A tough challenge but an awesome way to see the country!

WHY? To celebrate his 50th my friend Paul wanted to raise money to help fund the work The Stroke Association do. I decided to keep him company! Paul's dad suffered a stroke and knows all too well the devastating impact a stroke can have on loved ones. Whilst training as a nurse (all those years ago) I saw the effects of strokes first hand and was shocked to learn that most strokes can be avoided if blood pressure was well controlled. The Stroke Association has helped to improve life-saving research, treatments and care, saving tens of thousands of lives BUT the struggle is not over yet. More still needs to be done…
