Since 1987 Scannappeal has raised over £19m for life saving and life changing medical equipment for hospitals in Bucks, particularly for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Every 10 minutes a patient in the local area is diagnosed or treated with equipment funded by Scannappeal.

Story

A personal message from Phil:

Charity donation requests are a common part of the world we live in, I personally wish we lived in a world where this wasn’t needed but the reality is so very different. Fundraising is not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination and it relies heavily on the decency and good will of people like you. I could tell you all about how gruelling and painful a 120 mile bike ride is going to be, but for me that isn’t the reason I want you to read on.

I want you to know how powerful and influential you can be in changing the future and outcome of people that need medical help now and those that don’t yet know they will need it. Scannappeal is an incredible charity that raises funds for life saving, state of the art equipment, equipment that I know first hand saves and prolongs life.

My story gets more real every day as I was diagnosed with a brutal illness and as a result I have no choice but to live with metastatic Kidney cancer.  We know the devastation a disease like cancer can cause, I know this story only too well and I personally wish I could take that away for my family and friends.  I tell you this not because I want you to feel sad, but because it helps me to paint a picture of how important you are, and how close you are to making a difference.  I’ve always said that “You don’t have to be a doctor to save a life” and a selfless donation from you turns you into a lifesaver!  We all grow up dreaming of what we want our life to look like, but rarely do we prepare for life changing illness. I personally want to thank you for reading this Just Giving page and I leave you with one ask… Be that gift that keeps on giving!  A donation
today doesn’t mean that you go without, a donation today gives a gift of hope to someone who needs it but just can’t ask.

Thankyou.

Phil Richards MBE.
