Story

Life is especially hard for those experiencing street homelessness. Every day can be a struggle for warmth, hot food, at times basic survival and dignity. The Rise Centre, part of Thanet Shelter and Support, working alongside our partners and community of volunteers, are able to offer 24 hour accommodation from one central Thanet location until the end of June this year, with the hope that with the right funding we will continue to be open.

As well as a safe, warm and welcoming place to escape the outside, those that stay have access to full support and resources that year on year have proven to provide the spark of change to start rebuilding broken lives and regaining dignity.

Money raised is used directly to provide all that is needed to make the shelter a comfortable, caring, nourishing and welcoming place to be away from the harsh conditions, isolation and stigma of living on the streets and with the hope of a brighter tomorrow. For this year and for years to come.

Last winter saw 76 individuals walk through the door, this year as the fallout from COVID-19 continues, it is anticipated that numbers will be even higher.

With the right funding we are hopeful, alongside our partners to continue to provide this service which truly has a lasting impact on those that need our help the most.

Your kind help is gratefully appreciated.
