Story

Why am I fundraising?

My journey over the last 6-12 months as I have discovered and fostered acceptance of my autism diagnosis has been an incredibly difficult one. There have been a series of highs and lows. Of course, I am grateful to everyone who has been with me throughout, however, the lack of much needed support has been a huge challenge.

After receiving diagnosis (for me, as an adult) there is no established process for the next step. Autistic people experience a number of challenges through social disability yet there is no system to support us.

Thankfully, I have been able to reach a point where I’m able to take the necessary action needed to get support in different areas. This isn’t the case for everyone. At times, I didn’t think that I would get to this stage myself.

This running challenge is the perfect representation of the challenge that I have faced as a late diagnosed autistic person. Reaching 60 miles can be compared to reaching the stage that I’m at now with my autism journey. It won’t be easy to get there, but with you and others supporting me, I will do it.

With love and gratitude always

- Tyler
