Story
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Tyneside Cinema Appeal so far. Your generous donations are greatly appreciated and will help us build:
A Brand New Cinema Screen
A Brand New Video Art Gallery
A Brand New Café And Bar
We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take over the empty shop unit on the Pilgrim Street frontage of the cinema.
This will give the Tyneside a front door onto the high street for the very first time and inside we will build a cinema-lover’s café bar with its own cabaret-style ‘secret cinema’. Upstairs, the current bar will transform into a new fourth screen that will be an exciting new video art gallery by day and a fantastic 40-seat cinema by night.
The landscape for funding of the arts and charities is changing dramatically and the trustees and staff of the cinema believe that the Tyneside must be able to stand firmly on its own two feet in the future. This project will help us achieve exactly that.
More film
More opportunity to see even more diverse and exciting films.
A bar for film lovers
Eat, drink and talk film to your heart’s content.
A brighter future
Tyneside will be able to earn more and so depend less on grants to support our work as a charity.
New jobs
In tough times, this project will create 20 new jobs in the city.
A front door
A presence on the High Street that properly reflects the scale activity that goes on inside.
All of this work will cost £1,300,000. The very exciting news is that we only have £100,000 to raise to reach this target and that is why we have launched this public appeal.
Please help us make this happen
Any donation you can make to this appeal, large or small, will be of real value and will make a difference. Hundreds of people gave donations to our last redevelopment appeal in 2006 and even though many were small sums they all added up to a mighty total and made a mighty big difference.
