Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
In the year 2000 the current Typhoon Display Pilot, Flt Lt Jim Peterson, was visiting friends in Liverpool when a freak accident nearly ended his piloting career. A piece of flying glass cut through his cornea on his left eye and he was temporarily blinded. Thanks to to the quick thinking of a nurse at the St. Paul’s Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool hospital, an expert surgeon was immediately summoned and he carefully operated on Jim and stitched his eye back together with 12 sutures. Over the following 6 months, Jim’s eyesight returned and he was able to continue with his flying training and childhood dream of becoming a fighter pilot. Jim has never forgotten how lucky he was that day to receive the best care humanly possible and him and the team would like to show their gratitude for enabling the 2018 Typhoon Display by raising some money for the hospital.
In their one weekend off from the whole summer of busy display flying, the team of riders will cycle over 180 miles. From the extreme flats of Lincolnshire through to the extreme hills of the Peak District probably all into wind, they aim to reach Liverpool in less than 36 hours from when they set off (including sleep if they get any!) Any donations will be very gratefully received and we thank you for your generosity.
