Story
I want to raise money for C.A.L.M because C.A.L.M wants to challenge the way men view masculinity, our approach to talking about
how we're feeling, and at its core make life less miserable for those
suffering. Not always being able to express openly how we’re feeling is
something that has affected me personally, the sentiments behind ‘toughing it out’, ‘weathering the storm’ or ‘manning up’ can be damaging as we all know but I am fortunate to have some of the most amazing people around me. However this isn’t always the case often the barriers preventing men approaching other men, friends, peers etc. are all too prevalent, these barriers can seem absolutely insurmountable for someone who is already suffering.
There's a stereotype that the boxing and gym world is filled with combative and competetive meat heads; I really want to challenge this as some of the funniest, open, well measured, gallant people I’ve ever met I have met through boxing and weight lifting.
It’s not a surprise to hear that getting
into regular physical exercise can help mental health for multiple reasons,
anyone feeling closed off please consider that there are friends in all walks of life and some in the most surprising of places. Doesnt even have to be in the gym even if its just making a phone call for yourself. CALM: 0800 58 58 58
