Story

Thanks for taking the time to check this out guys. I know a few of you may be thinking it's a bit rich for me to ask you for money for running - since I clearly love cardio way too much already - but this is a good cause, and I hope you'll take a second to read on and find out why.

Last year a member of our extended family - Jacob Webb - passed away. He was just two years old.

Jacob had been diagnosed with GM1 gangliosidosis, which is a rare genetic disease that caused him to experience neurodegeneration, seizures and muscle weakness, and in it's later stages even partial deafness and blindness.

Whenever I remember him though, in-spite of the tremendous daily struggle he went through, I remember a beautiful beaming little boy. He always had a smile on his face, and a twinkle in his eye. Even at the worst of times (and there were some very tough times) I felt he emanated this serene aura of happiness and contentment.

I think that this resilience, as well as being testament to his irreproachably good nature, must have reflected the immense support and love that Jacob was the recipient of. This love came from his family, his many adorably loyal friends, and also in the later stages of his life from the staff at Helen & Douglas House - the world's first children's Hospice.

We wanted to run this race, not only to continue to remember a little boy who was, and will continue to be very close to us all, but also to give something back to the Hospice that gave such excellent support to the Webb family through the most difficult of times imaginable.

I can't really describe the work the women and men at the hospice do without lapsing in hyperbole. It's simply staggering. And they rely on donations like these to keep doing what they do. It seems to us to be a very worthy cause, and one which is very close to our hearts, and we would appreciate any gesture or donation, no matter how big or small.

Actually we appreciate you merely reading this - and remembering Jacob with us : )

Thanks,

Ty & Ella
