As with previous years, the event aims to raise money for charity, while getting clients involved and having fun.
The is a three year old state secondary school in an area of high deprivation in . The school specialises in music and mathematics and by 2013 it will cater for 1,150 students.
The UBS 24 hour Football Challenge will be raising much needed funds firstly for counselling services based in the Academy, and secondly to provide more opportunities for gifted and talented sports students.
The counselling services help to improve the emotional well-being of a significant minority of students and their families coping with bereavement, family breakdown, domestic violence, trauma and bullying. The PE department at the Academy is raising funds to ensure that talented sports students can receive the extra training and support they need to fulfil their potential. The core school budget doesn't provide funds for either of these areas.
UBS's partnership with the is its flagship EMEA Community Affairs programme. The partnership gives UBS employees the opportunity to volunteer to work with Academy staff and students on a wide range of academic, mentoring, advisory, sporting and fundraising activities. To date over 1,200 UBS employees have volunteered to support the Academy since its inception in 2003, many on an ongoing basis.
Your support for the Academy, through UBS's 24 hour Football Challenge, would be much appreciated by both staff and students.
Kind regards
Clair Morley, on behalf of all participating teams
