Amyloidosis can affect virtually any organ in the body and is caused by the deposition and build up of certain proteins in an abnormal form. The accumulation of Amyloid Protein progressively damages the normal structure and function of the affected organs.

This disease is regarded as very difficult to diagnose and currently many cases are thought to be missed.

I am running to support research into Amyloidosis in memory of my late Father in Law, Dave Matthews, who sadly died in April 2013 as a result of this little known disease. This was only a short time after his positive, and successful, battle against Lymphoma.

Many thousands of people knew Dave as a result of him working as kitman at West Bromwich Albion for over fifty years.  A smaller group of people were fortunate enough to also know him as a devoted family man and great friend. Dave was a man who treasured those around him and lived his life to the very highest standards of loyalty and integrity. An inspiration to us all !!

So please dig deep and donate now.
