Raising money for Lungs for Living · 8 March 2013

UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation raises funds for equipment, building projects and research across all of the UCLH NHS Foundation Trust hospitals. The projects that we support are diverse and varied and ensure that UCLH is able to remain at the forefront of patient care and medical research.

Story

We are asking for your support to help build, equip and run a world class translational research centre for lung cancer.  All funds raised on this page will go towards Lungs for Living, funding lung cancer research.

Lung cancer is the commonest cause of cancer death worldwide in both men and women, causing more deaths than the next four commonest cancers combined. It is one of the most difficult cancers to treat and is often diagnosed in very late stages. Because of these factors, lung cancer has one of the lowest survival rates of any type of cancer. Although most lung cancers are related to smoking, 15% of people of people with lung cancer have never smoked.  Lung cancer research attracts only 3.9 per cent of funding yet accounts for 22% of all cancer deaths in Britain.

Giving new hope to lung cancer patients, UCLH Charitable Foundation is fundraising for Lungs for Living, a translational research centre which will look at improving lung cancer diagnosis and improving treatments for patients.  Your donation will help Lungs for Living to deliver new therapies and treatments that will transform the future for people with lung cancer.
