Giant Abseil · 29 May 2010 ·

In 2003 8 young people and 1 family moved into Perry Common with a desire to serve local people and see the community enriched with a sense of hope and purpose. Today UDB works across 3 neighbourhoods, connecting with over 4000 children, young people, offenders and families in a variety of contexts.

Story

***WE DID IT!  THE TEAM HAVE SUCCESSFULLY SCALED THE DAUNTING BELLTOWER OF ASTON PARISH CHURCH VIA COUNTLESS TINY AND DISTURBING STEPS.  WE THEN PLUNGED TO THE GROUND AMIDST VARIOUS DEGREES OF FEAR AND IN A RANGE OF STYLES - FROM CAUTIOUS CREEPING TO RECKLESS ABANDON TO STYLISH PANACHE!  OVER THE NEXT WEEK WE'LL ADD IN THE OFFLINE GIVING THAT DIFFERENT TEAM MEMBERS HAVE COLLECTED BUT THERE'S STILL TIME TO DONATE HERE TOO.  THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!***

We're raising money for Urban Devotion Birmingham - the fantastic charity that we're part of.  UDB is based in Perry Common in the north east of Birmingham in an area with soaring unemployment rates and high levels of disadvantage.  Many of us live in this community and we also work in a couple of other communities nearby.

Urban Devotion Birmingham is all about seeing the transformation of lives, families and entire communities.  We engage with children, young people and families and support them in embracing and realising their potential.  We do this through drop in clubs, primary and secondary school lessons, helping people find jobs, running sport and music programmes, being out on the streets and a whole bunch of other ways.

UDB is also all about partnership.  We work alongside others with similar aims and are sustained through the generosity of a whole host of people who give time and money and even pray for us and those we serve!  Why not join them by donating to UDB through this exciting abseil event?

If you want to you could even abseil yourself and get your friends and family to support UDB too!  For more details contact us through by email - andy@urbandevotion.org - visit www.urbandevotion.org, or call us on 0121 350 9370.

This fantastic event is being run by our good friends at Rejuvenate Worldwide so why not support them too - www.justgiving.com/rejuvenateworldwide.
