The Nottingham office of UHY Hacker Young has entered two teams into the Robin Hood Corporate challenge to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation (our national charity). Sixteen members of staff have signed up to the challenge, with 10 set to complete the 13.1 mile half marathon and 6 completing the 1.5 mile mini marathon. Training has commenced and to help spur us on we would greatly appreciate your donation - no matter how big or small. As a team we hope to raise at least £2,500 to contribute towards the Mental Health Foundation's mission to prevent mental health problems and advocate good mental health.
The majority of us are not runners, and the most some of us have ever done is walked a 5km race for life, so this is a HUGE challenge for us.
Good mental health is fundamental to thriving in life. It is the essence of who we are and how we experience the world yet, compared to physical health, so little is commonly known about mental health; and mental illness is rapidly growing in the UK. On average 16 people a day end their own lives due to the struggles that living with a mental illness brings. The Mental Health Foundation leads the search for solutions based on evidence and practice that work in the real world. They deliver programmes, training and guidance that help to prevent mental health problems and support good mental health. The charity works to influence policymakers and advocate for change.
Any donation, however big or small, will make a difference.
