Story
In February 2025, I dislocated, fractured and tore the ligaments in my ankle playing rugby. While the recovery from this has been a long and testing journey, the experience has made me determined not to take my physical health for granted. While coming to the back end of my recovery in Summer 2025, I was given the chance to put my money where my mouth is by signing up for the 2026 Budapest marathon as part of the Warwick Uni Budapest Marathon Challenge. Against my better judgement, I knew I had to take this opportunity despite having a lifetime total of three 5k's under my belt at the time.
The reason behind this challenge is to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity providing specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer. Check out this short video to learn more about the incredible work they do: https://youtu.be/h5H4OPoXifA?si=aCbeT9fZIxdU5K48
What I went through at the start of this year pales in comparison to the experience of the seven young people every day who hear the words "you have cancer". Any donations are greatly appreciated, and will make a huge difference to a young person going through the toughest and scariest time they've ever faced.
