Story
Hi pals, strangers, internet wanderers and anyone who’s ever said “go on then, do something wild.”
I’m Clare — Scottish actor, professional overthinker, part-time knee-rehab warrior — and in September 2026, I’ll be trekking all the way to Everest Base Camp (yes, the big one!!) at over 5,000 metres. Why?
Because doing scary things feels a lot less scary when you remember there are people facing far, far scarier battles every single day.
I’m raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that means a huge amount to me and to so many others. Their work changes lives — proper, literal, real lives — and if I can put one foot in front of the other for a couple of weeks to help even a little, then sign me up. (Too late, I’m signed up. Send help.)
To hit my fundraising goal of £4,380, I’ll be doing some ridiculous things over the next months.
We’re talking:
• Jumping out of a plane (why not?)
• Running some mad distances (pray for me)
• Other chaotic fundraising stunts that future me will regret but present me insists are “a great idea.”
Basically, if it scares me, I’m probably doing it.
Cancer is terrifying. Everest is… also terrifying. But if choosing the second one means raising money to support young people facing the first, then honestly — what a privilege.
So if you can donate, even the tiniest amount, I’d be unbelievably grateful. And if you can’t, a share, a cheer, or a “Clare you’re mad but we love you” will go a long way too.
Here’s to turning 25 and realising that a quarter-life crisis is actually just an excellent excuse to raise money for charity.
Thank you, from the bottom of my big anxious heart,
Clare 🏔️💙
