Story

Hi, my name is Kieran and I've signed up to take on the UK Kilimanjaro 2026 Student starting on Tuesday 25th of August 2026.

I'm raising money to support Amnesty International UK, and my goal is to raise £4970.

This challenge is not just about pushing myself outside of my comfort zone - it's about making a difference too! Amnesty is one of those charities making a global difference. To have the opportunity to support them is a true honour. Amnesty International really is a brilliant charity. Supporting peoples lives from all over the world. From lobbying and campaigning all the way through to educating people directly. From human rights through to climate action. Amnesty really does it all!

However, for me, this challenge is more than just in support of this amazing charity, for me it’s a personal challenge as well. Overcoming the challenges I have faced and to prove to myself how far I have come.

In February 2025, I suffered a head injury that put me out of action for the proceeding 7 months. My journey through rehabilitation and building back my strength and confidence has been a real opportunity to learn about the struggles of life and how to deal, live with and overcome them. I am so grateful to have had that opportunity, but more than that, to be able now to write this, to fundraise for such an amazing cause, and to look forward to doing such a great challenge is something I could never have imagined just 4 months ago. To be here today, telling you this, is something I am very proud of.

Mountaineering is something I have recently taken up, from the moment I could walk more than a kilometre I started looking bigger. Every opportunity I have had to prove to myself since my injury that I could do more than I once thought has been met with triumph. So here I have pushed the boat out once more.

All I ask is that you consider donating, or even just simply sharing my story. It would mean the world to me.

Every donation, big or small, will help me reach my target and support Amnesty International UK's important work.Thank you so much for your support, Kieran
