My name is Tess and I'll be climbing Kilimanjaro in August 2026 in support of Amnesty International UK. Prior to my departure, I'm hoping to raise at least £3390 to help Amnesty continue their important work, and every donation, big or small, will help me reach this target.

Why Amnesty International UK? Amnesty International is the world's largest grassroots human rights organisation that focuses on investigating and exposing abuses, and delivering justice to those who have suffered. Amnesty's global movement of over ten million people puts them in a unique position to pressure those in power and mobilise the public to achieve life-changing results. Their current campaigns are focused on the defence of press freedom, responding to global humanitarian crises including offering support in Israel, the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Lebanon, Syria and Ukraine, and scrutinising the UK government's commitment to racial justice.

Why Kilimanjaro? Kilimanjaro will be my first ever multi-day trek and, given Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895m, I felt it would be a sufficiently daunting challenge to reflect my commitment to going out my comfort zone to support Amnesty International UK. But, Kilimanjaro will not be my only fundraising activity, and in the run up to the climb I'll be completing charity runs, bake sales and other community events in an attempt to maximise my impact.
