Story
Hi, my name is Billy and at the end of next summer, me and a group of fellow students from Imperial College London will be taking on the incredible challenge of summiting the tallest free-standing mountain in the world in order to help raise awareness and vital funds for Street Child.
I've always loved hiking and the 6 days, 5895m and 5 climate zones of Kilimanjaro will challenge me more than anything else I have ever done. However every step will be worth it in order to support the crucial work of Street Child.
Street Child is an international children's education charity currently active in over 20 of the world's most low-income and disaster struck countries; working to break down the barriers that prevent any child from being safe, in school and learning. Barriers which currently prevent 1 in 10 children worldwide from being in school.
This is now more important than ever as global government aid has fallen in 2025 alone by over 25% and is expected to continue falling even further into the future. The UK government recently announced that aid will fall to the lowest cash level since 2012 in the next few years with cuts of over £5 billion. It is estimated that this will mean that 6 million children around the world will be unable to continue their education.
Street Child works across the world in countries such as Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, South Sudan and Ukraine. However what truly sets them apart is that everything they do is with a commitment to working with local organisations to create sustainable change led by communities.
Here is what your support can do:
£10 could provide a learning kit with basic stationary for a child living in conflict in Nigeria
£50 could send a child to school for a year in Sierra Leone
£250 could provide a vulnerable family with business training and a start-up-grant in order to rebuild a livelihood in South Sudan and support their children's education going forward.
Thanks very much for joining on this journey with us, every donation or message is so appreciated and any possible support will make such a difference.
