Story
Hi everyone!
My name is Maxime Evrard, and I’m a Biological Sciences student at Imperial College London. In August 2026, I’ll be taking on the Kilimanjaro 2026 Student Challenge, setting off on Saturday, 29th August 2026.
I’m climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Street Child UK, and my goal is to raise £3,390.
Although I enjoy staying active and playing rugby regularly, hiking has never really been “my thing.” My biggest climb so far has been the Salève (1379m) in Geneva... nothing compared to Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak and the tallest free-standing mountain at 5,895m! So this expedition is a huge step outside my comfort zone.
But that’s exactly why I’m doing it. I wanted to commit to something that pushes me while supporting a cause that truly matters.
Street Child UK works to ensure that children in some of the world’s lowest-income and most disaster-affected countries have access to education, safety, and a chance at a better future. Their projects support vulnerable children across sub-Saharan Africa and beyond, building schools, training teachers, and providing safe spaces and resources where they’re needed most.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to the summit and, more importantly, helps Street Child to continue changing lives.
Thank you so much for your support!
Maxime
