Hi, I'm Jesslin.

On 29th August 2026, I'm swapping lecture halls for altitude sickness and taking on Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest free-standing mountain, to raise money for Street Child.

Last year I quit a perfectly stable full-time job to become a student again. Several people asked if I was having a crisis. The honest answer, yes. And somewhere in the middle of it I discovered I love climbing, which is how I've ended up trading a steady salary for the privilege of paying to climb a mountain for charity.

Here's what actually makes this trip make sense to me: it's students helping students. Street Child gets kids in some of the world's toughest places, conflict zones, refugee camps, post-crisis communities, into school and keeps them safe while they're there. I get to be a student again because I chose to be. The kids Street Child supports don't have that choice yet. This is my way of trying to even that out a little.

What your money actually does:

- £10 gives a child in conflict-affected Nigeria a basic learning kit

- £20 helps train a caseworker protecting Rohingya refugee girls in Bangladesh

- £50 sends a child to school for a full year in Sierra Leone

- £250 funds a grant to rebuild a family's livelihood — which on average gets 2 children back into school

Every kilometre I climb, every blister, every moment of questioning my life choices at altitude, it's all worth it if it means more kids get the chance I'm lucky enough to have twice.
