Story

The concert is over but the need for help at the St Nicholas Hospital for Children in Lviv, Ukraine is increasing daily. The war continues and so many civilian targets result in gravely injured citizens - amongst them maimed frightened children.

What happened at the concert?

EMILIA FOX, FREDDIE FOX and famous cellist RAPHAEL WALLFISCH pianist JOHN YORK donated their talent by performing at our inspirational concert of Words and Music on Sunday October 2nd 2022 at 4pm in St Thomas' Church, Winchelsea TN36 4EB in aid of the war-damaged children of Ukraine    Standing ovations - cries of "Bravo" from the audience in the packed church.

"A monumental success!'  "The best concert we have ever had". "Brilliant musicians matched perfectly with such superb actors!" - the rave notices are still coming in."

Russian missiles have not only injured these children but  have also destroyed the hospitals in their hometowns so they are being sent to St Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv.  Many have lost limbs, have horrendous shrapnel wounds and one little boy of seven has 45% burns.   The St Nicholas Hospital we are supporting is desperate for a new operating theatre and medical equipment to help them cope with the traumatised children who now have to learn to restructure their broken lives - often alone in the world as all their relatives have been killed.

LATEST UPDATE:  Because the concert was a such a HUGE success,  so many messages of thanks and congratulations are still coming in - and with them much needed-donations.  Some people have re-donated, doubling their original gift.

Our four celebrated performers  Emilia Fox, Freddie Fox, Raphael Wallfisch and John York were superb and received a standing ovation of several minutes from the packed audience in the glorious church in Winchelsea.  Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski of the London Ukrainian community was with us and spoke most movingly about his recent visit to Ukraine.

NB. Generous donors sponsored all our concert expenses so that your donation will go direct to St Nicholas Hospital.

PLEASE match the generosity of the artists who performed for free.    We need you!  The children of Ukraine need you!  Every penny counts.

We have two websites collecting funds for our Ukraine Reborn Concert.  People find this  additional JustGiving page easier to donate. As this is a new page, the total is not the overall amount we have raised.  We are delighted to announce that we have passed our initial target of £15,000 and are now aiming higher - currently we are approaching £20,000.  Please help us reach our new target to enable the children's hospital to have all the equipment they need.

Some supporters have made donations to the other website collecting on our behalf. You have a choice.  Please help us reach our target.  https://actionforhumanity.org/appeals/ukraine-reborn-concert/

Any donation, however small will be appreciated.  Please help us as generously as you can.  We know these are difficult times but all our problems fade into insignificance when we see how these innocent children are suffering,.   Thank you

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. When emergencies strike, we act and mobilise. We respond immediately to ensure the most vulnerable are protected, their basic needs are met, and lives are saved. Our work is driven by immediate response and effective delivery, but we stay long after a disaster to help restore lives. As an NGO we are guided by our drive to help others, not profit. When emergencies strike, we act to ensure to save lives and protect the vulnerable. When the emergency is over, we stay and help restore lives. We were founded in 2011 in the UK by a group of doctors whose sole focus was to provide assistance and aid to those devastated by conflict. For over a decade we have built an expertise in responding to humanitarian needs to benefit the most vulnerable people affected by conflict, disasters and extreme poverty.
