Ultrahaptics's Walking Event in aid of Parkinsons UK · 8 September 2018 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects around 145,000 adults in the UK and is caused by a lack of dopamine in the body. The three main symptoms are tremors (shaking), slowness of movement and muscle stiffness. Parkinson’s UK is a tremendous organisation that funds ground-breaking research to consign the condition to the history books as well as providing support for those affected and their families.

This is an extremely personal mission for me, my father, now in retirement has Parkinson’s and it is heart-breaking to watch him deteriorate and become a burden on my mother, both of whom should be enjoying their retirement.

We are looking to raise a significant amount of money for Parkinson’s UK by walking 16 miles around the wonderful city of Bristol with colleagues, friends, partners and family members.
