Story
Breast cancer, the most common cancer in women, affects more than two million people every year.
Every October, people all over the world show their support for people affected by breast cancer, taking part in activities to raise awareness and money to support vital research.
In March 2019, our colleague Sam, was diagnosed with breast cancer and had three different treatments throughout the rest of the year. Out of choice, with the support from the Company and her colleagues, she remained in work for the majority of this time.
Now cancer free, Sam has agreed to share her story to raise money and awareness of the disease across Unipart, and to highlight the support available. As cancer will touch 1 in 2 of us throughout our lifetime, it's very likely you already know someone at home or at work, who is going through, or has been through, a similar experience.
Breast Cancer Now's wear it pink day is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. Taking place on 23 October, thousands of amazing people wear it pink in their communities, schools or work places for the UK's largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now.Right now, we dont know what the world will look like in October. What well be able to do. Who well be able to go and see. But we know that breast cancer doesnt stop for anything. Our nurses, scientists, and the hundreds of thousands of families affected by breast cancer, urgently need your support. Now more than ever. So, if there was ever a time to wear it pink. Wear it on Friday 23 October.Join me in wearing pink for all those affected by breast cancer. Thank you!
