University of Bath Crafternoon "Yarn Bombing" · 23 September 2018
The
University of Bath Staff Craft Club will be ‘Yarn Bombing’ the benches on the
Parade to raise money for Mind! Throughout ‘Be Well’ Week we will be running
sessions to pop along and try out crochet and knitting and add squares to the
benches – these sessions are from 12 - 1pm from the 8th October to the 12th October
each day in 4 West Foyer!
What
is “Yarn Bombing?” I hear you ask….
Yarn
bombing is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful
displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than
paint or chalk. It is also called yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti,
urban knitting, or graffiti knitting.
Who
are Mind?
Mind
are a mental health charity who provide help and support directly to
those who need it most. They have a network
of around 135 local Minds who offer specialised support and
care based on the needs of the communities they support.
It
is thought that knitting and crochet can help to relieve stress – so what
better way to promote the charity!
We
are hoping its colour presence on the parade will draw attention to the charity
Mind! And people can donate money for all the time and effort everyone has put
into doing it!
If
you would like to donate squares to be part of the kniffiti – please drop them
into 4 West Student Services up until the end of day on 12th
October.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
