On Sunday 24th April 2022, students from the University of Portsmouth Athletics Club will be running through the streets of Southampton to complete either the Full Marathon, Half Marathon or 10k.

We will be fundraising for the fantastic charity Friends of PICU to help them "Support Critically ill Children from across the South of England and the Channel Islands".

Fiends of PICU support the PICU team at Southampton Children's Hospital with a variety of projects from new inpatient intensive care beds, all-important spaces for families to rest, expansion to increase capacity, state-of-the-art equipment, to everyone’s wellbeing. The charity's current major project is to renovate the family accommodation area, which is in desperate need of improvement. This renovation is vital as it provides the families with close proximity accommodation and a calming space within the hospital to be near their child.

Additionally, the dedicated Southampton PICU retrieval ambulances have been funded by Friends of PICU since 2012. The ambulances enable the medical team to go and collect the sickest of children from across our region, bringing them to PICU for the specialist care they urgently need. Through your help, Friends of PICU provide additional child and family support to create a caring and considerate environment in and around PICU, and each child admitted to PICU receives a very special soft toy PICU elephant to help provide comfort and support.
