Story
Nightsafe are small local charity supporting homeless young people aged between 16-24 years. They provide holistic services to young people through many channels such as supported housing projects, food bank, teaching basic life skills and offering counselling.
Our year 6 pupil, BeBe, became aware of Nightsafe 18 months ago. She embraced her Jesuit pupil profile Quant Je Puis (As Much as I Can) and has organised an Upper Elements sleep out in the Sports Hall on Thursday 13th February to highlight the plight of homeless young people and raise much needed funds for Nightsafe. The pupils will spend the evening in the Sports Hall with a presentation from Nightsafe staff, reflections on being a witnessing community and a drama workshop on homelessness. After an evening snack they will settle down in home-clothes and a sleeping bag on the floor of the hall for the night. The following morning there will be a soup kitchen style breakfast.
Our pupils will come to appreciate some of the discomforts of disadvantaged young people, encouraging them to be loving and compassionate towards those who are without food, shelter, warmth, friendship or employment.
