Brighton Marathon 2014 · 6 April 2014 ·

Sussex has challenged convention since our foundation in 1961. From modernist architecture on the edge of a rural national park, to our progressive academics and inspiring students, to the very tone of our conversations, our expressions of radicalism and critical thinking. We dare to be different.

Story

Last September, the Development and Alumni Relations  team told us about their fundraising efforts for our students who find themselves in dire financial difficulty through no fault of their own. Politely, we asked if we could help in any way.

Immediately, the Sussex Fund manager mentioned the Brighton Marathon, and immediately without thinking, we decided there and then to run our first ever marathon for our fellow students.

That was the easy bit, sitting on a sunny late summer’s day, thinking of how fit we would be after our training and how disciplined we all would be. Now it’s not so easy! The cold, the rain, but most of the all, the wind! Running to stand still!

However, it is the thought of helping all who we represent and serve in a real tangible manner that has kept us running in these cold, blustery (putting it mildly) nights and mornings.

Please help us help Sussex students by supporting us via the Sussex Fund. Many thanks.
