Story
In September 2025, a group of Graeme and my incredible (and slightly insane) friends and family will be walking the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Graeme was diagnosed with cancer in October 2024, turning our world upside down. In a time filled with fear and a thousand questions, Macmillan helped me stay grounded by keeping me informed and educated about what was to come.
Before this journey, I had no idea just how vital Macmillan’s role is in the care of people with cancer.
In the midst of all the hospital appointments, waiting rooms, and emotional rollercoasters, there was one thing that brought me a little peace—walking. Back around the time of Graeme's diagnosis, I took on a (much smaller) walking challenge of a mile a day to raise money for Cancer Research. Walking helped me feel grounded when everything else felt out of control and became more than just a way to pass time—it became part of how I coped and processed.
Now, we’re taking on a (much!) bigger walking challenge to give back to Macmillan and continue to support those fighting this horrific disease. Every step we take along the stunning Northumberland coast is for Graeme, for the people who have walked beside us, and for all those who will need Macmillan in the future.
Life threw us a pretty shitty curve ball shortly after signing up, which meant training has been somewhat impossible and fundraising a little delayed 😅
Although G is no longer walking on the day, he has the (probably harder by mile 20) task of chief cheerleader for the group 💚
If you can, please sponsor anyone in our mad little team. We can’t really believe so many friends and family actually said yes to this?! They deserve all the love ♥️
Thank you so much 💚 UTG!
With love,
Kate x 💚
