Story

I have signed up and pledged to complete 26.2 miles - a marathon - between the 1st and 31st of May 2021. I have chosen to do this challenge with my #GoldenOldiesTeam, to reflect on some of the wonderful things I have learned while working as an Events Coordinator for Oak Tree Animals' Charity.

My personal challenge will be to make every walk a positive experience, for both the dogs and myself. That sounds easy enough, but it is not straightforward when you bear in mind that Bunter and Teddy are now eleven years old, do not like car journeys (get car sick), do not have 100% recall (certainly not when spotting wildlife) and are big, very strong and more often than not reactive to other dogs.

However, for us as a family, they are the sweetest, most loyal and reliable friends we could wish for - so I am keen to do what I can to make them as happy as possible.

If you choose to sponsor my challenge, your money would help animals in need. A large percentage of Oak Tree's intake is due to behavioural issues. One of Oak Tree's services is offering behavioural support and training not only for dogs that come to Oak Tree for rehoming, but also for dog owners who want to work on a better relationship with their canine friends. From puppy classes to 1-2-1 sessions, Oak Tree can help in many ways!
