People with spinal injuries need Horatio’s Garden. We know this, that’s why we build, care for and expertly staff transformative gardens at NHS rehabilitation centres. We know how critical they are to provide reflection and adjustment, privacy and solace, joy and companionship to all who need it.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am attempting the Serpentine One Mile Swim challenge later this month to raise money for Horatio's Garden - a national charity that creates and nurtures beautiful gardens in NHS spinal injury centres to support everyone affected by spinal injury

The charity is named after Horatio Chapple, a 17 year old killed by a Polar Bear while on expedition to Svalbard. Although I didn't know him personally, a few friends did. His ambition had been to become a doctor and while volunteering at Salisbury spinal centre, he recognised that there was no 'outside world' available to spinal injury patients.

Borne out of this original idea, his mother set up the charity in his legacy.

Any donation would be hugely appreciated and while I don't expect to be particularly fast, I am simply hoping to finish the distance, not swallow too much water and avoid the swans!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
