Story
18 months ago, Vanessa suffered an unexpected severe loss of
sight due to retinol vein occlusion.
Since then she has been given monthly eye injections at the eye hospital
which have made all the difference. We have become aware of not just the cost
of the treatments but the incredible research and all the work that all the
staff at Moorfields do. The injection clinic is always busy and the staff are
always amazing. (It can’t be easy injecting people in the eyes and we are so
very grateful for all the team continue to do). We think it is important to
raise awareness around retinol vein occlusions and macular degeneration which
we now know can affect people from all ages and in Vanessa’s case without any
apparent underlying cause.
Please help us support the pioneering research and
treatments that Moorfields provide for all eye conditions. They deserve every
ounce of support.
On the 10/3/19 Vanessa, Rick, Olivia, Chris and Wilf will be
doing the Eye to Eye 14 miler across London to raise awareness and funds for
this great charity. We’d really appreciate your help to raise as much money as
possible for this cause which is very close to our hearts.
Eye to Eye raises funds for pioneering research into eye disorders. We aim to raise over £150,000 towards areas of eye research such as glaucoma, the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, and age-related macular degeneration, the main cause of blindness in adults aged over 60 in the western world. In the five years since Eye to Eye began, donations raised have helped support vital research projects including studies exploring the genetics of keratoconus and the impact of diabetic retinopathy on the structure and function of the eye.
