Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving Page. I am taking on the Walk 3 Miles a Day Challenge this June to help power the research that could help the Epilepsy Society to halve epilepsy related deaths within the next decade.
I had my first ever seizure aged 52, with no warning or symptoms. It was a confusing and scary experience but the people around me cushioned my head and supported me fully. Following a visit to A&E and various tests indicating nothing untoward, I took time off work to recover. Life moved on and public transport became my new mode of transport, as I was immediately unable to drive.
The second seizure was infinitely worse. Travelling alone and on a railway platform, no-one cushioned my head and as I came round the utter devastation of realising that the first one wasn’t a one off - I had epilepsy…Life changed right there.
Since then I’ve learned to adapt, worry being a constant feature and each day ‘I hope the medication works today..’ I count each day since that second seizure. And I countdown to when I can hopefully will be able to drive again - 12 months to the day.
I knew nothing about epilepsy and it never entered my world. I’ve learned so much since my diagnosis and that almost 1/3 of epilepsy sufferers can’t control their seizure by medication.
So I’m fundraising to support the work of the Epilepsy Society who have spent 75 years at the forefront of discovery, and every breakthrough they've made has been powered by donations from people like you who believed change was possible.

Every hour in the lab brings us even closer to making breakthroughs in epilepsy research. Please give generously.
