Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge 2022 · 30 April 2022 to 1 May 2022 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are walking 52km from Chale to Cowes along with 5 other slightly mad nutters (aka Claire, Kelsie, Kerry, Charlotte and Maria). Our chosen charity is GRIT.
So why are we walking 52km from Chale to Cowes on Saturday 30 April for Growing Resilience in Teens (GRIT)?
Self-destructive behaviour is more common in teenagers than ever before. GRIT provides an early intervention group programme to support young people who are experiencing difficulties in managing their emotions.
This unique programme uses principles of group therapy combined with boxing to support young people in managing their emotions. Adolescence is a challenging time for many teenagers and recent studies have shown that young people are less happy than ever before with 16% of 14 year olds reporting self-harm in the last year.
Together we wish to raise £1,600 to purchase a portable boxing ring 🥊 for the GRIT Programme.
The boxing ring would be taken into schools to give students, who are considering the programme, the opportunity to experience how boxing and metaphors related to boxing, can support them to realise their power both in and outside the ring.

Thank you,
Rebecca, Vicky, Sarah & Lucy xx
