Story
At VCCP Sydney we were recently hit with the news that Steve Duddy, the father of our CX Director Beth, had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Unfortunately, Beth is not the first of our tight knit crew to have been affected by Parkinson’s, with several others having seen its effects on the family and friends they hold dear.
And sadly, it's no surprise it has effected a lot of us. 1 in 500 people have Parkinson’s, and it is currently the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. Although medication has advanced over the years to help people better manage it, there is still no cure.
So, given the personal experiences of our colleagues, and the high chance it could affect those close to all of us, we’ve decided to do our part (admittedly a small one) to help raise money to find better treatment and, ultimately, a cure for this debilitating disease.
To do this, a team of 15 VCCPers, the self-proclaimed VCCP Bears, will be making the 30km trek from Palm Beach to Manly, with the goal of raising money for The Shake It Up Australia Foundation and the valuable research they fund in the fight against Parkinson’s.
So, dig deep in your pockets, be generous and spread the word. Hell, come walk with us if you want! And, hopefully the little bit we do together, can help park Parkinson’s for good.
