Story

Rachel here & I’m now 49 years old.  I’ve had a lifetime ambition to run the London Marathon.  In passing, I happened to mention this to my netball buddy & now running partner Jo.  She has run the marathon before & was a personal trainer.  Jo even went up to be part of the programme Gladiators so you can imagine she knows just how to motivate & challenge me!  Well, I blinked & the next thing I knew was Jo had sorted it & here we are....

Our chosen charity is MACS who we had not heard of before because they are a smaller charity but the work they do for children born without eyes or with undeveloped eyes is a truly inspiring cause.  Our aim is to raise as much as possible with a combined target of £2700 to enable these children to enjoy activities such as adventure trips, sailing & respite holidays, helping them to overcome their fears, facing new challenges, making new friends & improving their communication skills.  The charity also helps with grants making families life easier to make a positive difference to the visually impaired children.  More money is required to carry out further research to learn the causes of this & related conditions.  Hopefully, our fundraising could help towards the cost of prosthetic eyes, which can be a difficult process for MACS children so the MACS support teams are needed as this condition can have devastating emotional experiences on both child & their families.

Jo & I have joined forces to raise as much as possible for our charity & your support is invaluable to make both our dreams & the children helped by MACS dreams come true.
