Story

Samantha Bevis (Sam) and I live in Toulouse in the South of France.  A year ago (July 2017) Sam was diagnosed with ‘Triple Negative’ Breast Cancer. Due to it being quite an aggressive cancer that was growing very fast, in August, Sam had surgery to remove the tumour. There was some good news though, all the following tests carried out came back negative for cancer cells, including the nearest node.
On the 28th September, Sam started her course of 6 Chemotherapy sessions. As anyone who has been through it will know, it is not the best, and it had the inevitable side effects of, hair loss, skin issues, sickness and loss of nails.  This was then followed by Radiotherapy during Mar-April 2018.  Since that point in July 2017, our lives felt like they had been put on hold, as we dealt with this unwanted visitor. Sam was so brave (so much more than I could have been) and endured so much, that I am in awe of her. Not just for going through this awful period but doing it in a foreign country with minimal knowledge of the language.
As we both start to look again to the future, and a life hopefully without our unwanted visitor, I decided to search for something to do, so we could repay the care and help we received.
Anyone who has lived in France; will know of their love of cycling (Velo de Route) and it seemed a fitting way to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care, but what to do. Then after an evening with some crazy British guys in a French Bar, we had it; we would cycle from, Versailles to Toulouse. Alor, c'est seulement 750km et donc la planification a commence. (So, it is only 750km and therefore the planning has commenced).
To do this though I would need some serious training and since the beginning of the year I have thrown my self into cycling.
So, we have set up this page in the hope that as many people as possible will help us in raising funds for Breast Cancer Care.

The 5 Original Crazy Brit Expat Riders were:-

Ian Bevis,  John Robinson,  Trevor Stone,  Andy Dunn  & Nigel Patreane.

We are now joined by the French Cyclo Guru and Leguevin Cyclo Club Secretary.........Alain Pennarroya.

Which make us now 6 Cyclists.  Welcome Alain to this Crazy Crew of ours and thanks for helping us with this quest.

Also, if anyone wants to follow my training for this little bike ride through the French countryside, they can do this on Strava
