In memory of Greg Phillips
We provide exceptional care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness

Story

This challenge is in memory of a dear friend, husband, brother, son and father - Greg Phillips. Greg and his family experienced unimaginable support from the East Cheshire Hospice during the final months of his life.

Greg tragically lost his battle with a brain tumour in 2017. He will always be remembered for his numerous talents, including rock-climbing, music, poetry & song writing. His unbounded intelligence, coupled with a  dry sense-of-humour made him an incredible role-model for those who take a keen interest in what the world has to offer whilst still being able to mock it and display true self-deprecation.

We are taking on this epic challenge in Greg's memory and to raise much needed funds to allow the hospice to continue its unwavering support for its patients.

East Cheshire Hospice provides a holistic approach to end of life care for people and their families at a very complex and difficult time.

For those receiving care, the nurses create an integrated environment of mutual respect and empathetic support that goes beyond everything that is expected. Personal, emotional, and spiritual needs are all discussed openly and catered for by the staff. We are all amazed at how the staff continue to be such strong pillars of support in the adverse circumstances they experience every day.

Families are also supported by the staff and by the extra services that are provided such as complimentary therapies and counselling. The supportive atmosphere and always feeling like you have someone to talk to can bring those necessary moments of lightness that give strength to care and support your loved ones the most.

Despite the amazing work the hospice does, it is almost all publicly funded and needs support from all of us to continue to provide such high quality care.
