Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. DUE TO POSTPONEMENT DUE TO WEATHER THE SKYDIVE WILL NOW TAKE PLACE IN 2022 BY TESSA ARMSTRONG.
It is time to step out of our comfort zone and do a 10,000ft skydive to raise awareness and money for Voices for Life, a children's charity they co-founded in 2020 in response to the growing awareness of the impact COVID will have on many children. The jump has been postponed 4 times so far due to low cloud so we continue to wait in suspense to experience freefalling through the air!
The current Voices for Life programmes take children on missions into space to enable them to aim high and believe in themselves. It seemed only right that we should do the same and take on a mission that really challenges us both as we continue to inspire children to be happy and confident.
Voices for Life
Voices for Life’s mission is for every child, no matter who they are or where they live, to have the opportunity to have fun singing together, experiencing emotional expression through music and helping them to be happy, build confidence and develop in all aspects of their life, musically and beyond.
There is a need to provide support for children to help build self-esteem, wellbeing, and confidence.
During our programmes, the children learn new Voices for Life choral works written by Jools Scott and Sue Curtis based on original stories which take them on an exciting journey. The programmes are delivered through workshops integrating singing rehearsals with confidence and wellbeing activities that take children into their imaginations through the music.
In our first big project, the children become Voices for Life astronauts on a space mission to Planet Zarg, their future, happy, helpful planet. They discover unhelpful feeling planets on their journey and successfully transport themselves off these with the help of six characters to enable them to reach Planet Zarg and achieve their mission. These planets depict feelings experienced by children during the pandemic.
To date, Voices for Life has officially launched with the support of composer John Rutter, commissioned three new children’s choral works, delivered over 50 workshops to 250 children and welcomed the Mayor of Bath as patron. You can watch our official launch video here: https://youtu.be/j4JYiYyvnx8
