Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

As many of you know Barry, Justin & Vanessa were due to do the Brighton Marathon in April 2021 but it was moved to September due to Covid. As they had already committed to the task with training & fundraising well underway, they stuck to the plan & took on their own marathon instead. On Sunday 18th April they embarked on a gruelling 26.2 miles from Walderslade Woods venturing through Medway & (eventually!) ending up in Sittingbourne taking approximately 6 hours & raising just shy of £7000 in the process - incredible!

Their original Brighton marathon places were deferred from this year to next so they always knew they were signed up & had a place but it's taken a while to get their heads round "do we actually want to do this again?" And the answer for 2 of them is a fairly confident....yes! On Sunday 10th April 2022 they will be at the start-line and raring to go!

Due to various personal commitments shuffling round over the past year, Barry unfortunately is unable to take part this year.

So a little note from Vanessa & Justin;

Vanessa - Unfortunately injury massively got in the way of my marathon journey last time, I actually hadn't run for 6 weeks prior to race day so on the day I just went for it! The support from friends & family along our route & from the boys was fantastic - they kept me going even though I was in agony from mile 10!

This time I hope to be a little less injured & am determined to get over that finish line with a smile on my face!

Any donations however big or small will be very much appreciated & if you see us pounding the streets over the winter, please give us a toot & wave of support!

JustinOur self-curated Marathon in April 2021 was a fun time pounding our local streets with friends cheering us on. We were all so proud to raise as much money as we did but I still have a masochistic desire to run the full joyous spectacle of Brighton Marathon.

I feel slightly uncomfortable asking for donations so soon after such generosity of our April 2021 run. That said if what we do inspire others to give to charity then we would be most grateful.

26.2 miles is going to hurt. There will be tears, blisters & I suspect toenails shed but what is life without a few challenges!
